Odsonne Edouard smashes Moussa Dembele goal tally as Celtic star makes history

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has smashed former Parkhead pal Moussa Dembele's goal record for France U21s.

The 22-year-old netted his 14th against Switzerland on Monday to move him clear of the Lyon striker and into the Les Espoirs record books in quickly adding a 15th.

That means he now joins Florian Maurice as the top scorer in Les Espoirs' history and needs just one more strike to surpass him.

The brilliant Frenchman did it in style as he found the net with a lovely finish before adding another only four minutes later to move two clear of his friend Dembele after missing the last round of internationals due to his positive Covid test

His exploits come hot on the heels of his latest all-star review where the Celtic hero earned a fearsome new name in the French press.

Benoit Desaint, writing for France Football, said: “Excellent in finishing, the right-footer is also excellent at creating.

"He is a real poison for defences.

"The Scottish title winner also has a nice burst of speed which allows him to offer solutions on the counter-attack.

"Edouard thus has a profile that could lead him to evolve even higher whether at club or international level.”
