Odsonne Edouard breaks Celtic transfer silence on Olivier Ntcham as striker gives Marseille verdict

Odsonne Edouard has backed Olivier Ntcham to find his feet at Marseille after a rough start in Ligue 1.

The Celtic midfielder joined the French side on loan until the end of the season as he struggled at Parkhead under Neil Lennon.

His acquisition was marred by Andre Villas-Boas' claims that he didn't want to sign the player. The Portuguese gaffer offered to step down before Marseille would later take the decision to sack him.

Christopher Jullien backed Ntcham to be a smash hit with his new club last week and now Edouard has backed his compatriot.

He said: "I see him winning and succeeding. He has the qualities, and mentally he’s ready.

"So, I don’t see any reason why he doesn’t succeed because he’s a player with a strong character.

" So, I think between the Marseille fans and him, it’s going to be a good mix."

France U-21 boss Sylvain Ripoli also reckons it's a good career move for Ntcham and Marseille have got a talented player on their hands.

He added: "He’s a modern midfielder capable of both defending well and also projecting himself and having an impact on the offensive phase of his team.

"He’s a player that I really appreciate and I think he’s a very good signing for Marseille."
