Odsonne Edouard backed to complete Arsenal transfer but £25m deal in doubt

Arsenal have been installed as the clear favourites to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard this summer.

Odds on the Frenchman being reunited with Kieran Tierney at the Emirates Stadium have now been cut from 6/1 into as short as 5/2 with bookmakers Oddschecker.

Elsewhere, another Premier League side is in the second-favourite spot to sign Edouard as Manchester United are at 6/1.

A move away to a European heavyweight is the next most likely move for the centre-forward, with any Serie A, Ligue 1, or La Liga side available at 8/1.

Back in England. Everton are next up in the bookies market at 10/1, while Leicester City are currently 12/1 to secure the services of the 22-year-old.

Finally, West Ham United are also in the running as they're at 16/1 to win the race for Edouard.

"With 22 goals, Odsonne Edouard was running away with the Scottish Premiership top scorer accolade before the season was prematurely brought to a halt," Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson said.

"Fine domestic form and a string of incredibly impressive performances in Europe not surprisingly piqued the interest of Arsenal and United.

"With Aubameyang seemingly leaving the former after this summer, Edouard could well be the replacement waiting in the wings."

The good news for Arsenal supporters is that the club have been closely monitoring the progress of Edouard as they mull the future of Alexandre Lacazette before the upcoming transfer window.

football.london understands that the Gunners have extensively scouted him over the course of the campaign.

However, there's a twist in regards to the bookies slashing odds on Edouard joining the Gunners this summer.

football.london understands that at the moment Arsenal don't have the funds to complete a deal for the centre-forward.

The Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate is unlikely to come cheap and it's been reported that Celtic would demand a fee in the region of £25m to part company with the prolific goalscorer.
