Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer report for Celtic trip to Wales as outcast star pictured on unlikely return

Celtic have departed for their pre-season training camp in Wales as Ange Postecoglou stepped up his preparations for the new season.

His side face a Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland in just 16 days and have scheduled five days at a "state of the art, world class facility".

The nine day trip from July 5-14 will incorporate closed door friendlies against Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton Athletic and Bristol City.

Postecoglou and his players were pictured at Glasgow Airport on Monday afternoon as they boarded a flight to the camp.

Among them was the returning Boli Bolingoli after the left-back's Covid-19 rule breach last summer led to him being shipped out on-loan to Istanbul Basaksehir.

The Belgian landed the club in hot water with the authorities after failing to quarantine upon his return from a bubble-breaching trip to Spain and Celtic, who had no knowledge, brought him on as a substitute against Kilmarnock.

Also on board were Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer as question marks continue to hang over their futures' at the club.

Edouard's prospects of a move to Leicester City have been dashed while Norwich City are the latest club to be linked with Ajer, who has already admitted he wants to move on this summer.

Potential new captain Callum McGregor is back in the fold after his Euro 2020 exploits with Scotland.

Celtic will undertake one full day of training on Tuesday before meeting English League One side Wednesday, funnily enough, on Wednesday.

That's followed by the meeting with Charlton on Saturday before the trip is rounded off against Bristol City a week on Wednesday.

Further friendly clashes with Preston North End - Postecoglou's first outing at Celtic Park - and Premier League side West Ham will follow.

But it's all building to a second round qualifying clash with the Danes on July 21 as Postecoglou bids to steer Celtic back to the Champions League once again.
