ARLINGTON, Texas _ Rougned Odor's two-run homer lifted the Rangers to an 8-7 walk-off win over the Mariners Tuesday night at Globe Life Park. The win improves the Rangers to 79-54, 25 games above .500 for the first time since the end of the 2011 season.
Satrter Cole Hamels breezed through the first three innings on nine pitches apiece before running into trouble in the fourth. The Mariners singled twice before Hamels walked consecutive batters to drive in a run with no outs. Hamels struck out Dae-Ho Lee before Ryan Rua threw home for the second out. Hamels walked in a second run to pull the Mariners to within 4-2 before getting out of the inning. The Mariners scored four times in the fifth and chased Hamels after 41/3 innings. He was charged with six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four.
Alex Claudio replaced Hamels and surrendered a run-scoring single before retiring the side. He allowed no runs on two hits in 22/3 innings of relief.
Matt Bush pitched the eighth and had two on with no outs after a walk and single. The Mariners took a 7-6 lead on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Robinson Cano.
Texas scored twice in the second. Rougned Odor and Jonathan Lucroy singled with one out before Odor scored from third on Elvis Andrus' sacrifice fly to left. Lucroy scored on Carlos Gomez's single.
Adrian Beltre's two-run homer in the third gave the Rangers a 4-0 lead. Beltre's bloop single to center scored Ian Desmond, who started the seventh with a single and moved to third on a two-base throwing error by third baseman Kyle Seager.
Odor singled to right to move Beltre to third but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Lucroy's two-out single to center scored Beltre to tie it at 6-6. In the ninth, Beltre led off with a single before Odor's homer, which was estimated at 413 feet to center field.
