BHUBANESWAR: The state government has cautioned vehicle owners against booking their high security registration plates (HSRP) through fake websites. The advisory comes after one such fake website claiming to book for affixing HSRPs came to light.
An official statement stated that only dealers authorised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a non-profit apex national body representing all major vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers, can take booking for HSRPs.
The vehicle owners should visit odishatransport.gov.in and click on “book HSRP” or visit siam.in to book HSRP. These websites will direct the users to authorised dealers. Please note home delivery of HSRP number plates is not available in Odisha, said the release.
A vehicle owner can visit www.siam.in and then fill up his/her name, vehicle no, state, e-mail ID and mobile number and select ‘I agree’. Then he/she can follow the steps and fill up the required information. If the vehicle data entered by the applicant matches with the VAHAN database, a system that takes care of vehicle registration activities, then the portal allows to proceed for payment and slot booking.
