Odion Ighalo makes instant Man Utd impact ahead of Chelsea fixture

Odion Ighalo has already given Manchester United's players a boost, according to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The striker, who was brought in on loan in January, has finally linked up with his new team-mates after two weeks of training on his own.

Mirror Sport revealed last week that Ighalo had been banned from Carrington while United were in Spain over fears of a potential coronavirus risk.

The ex-Watford forward was instructed to train away from the AON Training Complex over health and safety issues, instead working out at a Taekwondo Centre located near Man City's Etihad Stadium.

Ighalo finally linked up with his United pals on Sunday morning.

United were forced to move for the 30-year-old to bolster their attacking options. Rashford is out with a back issue and Anthony Martial has struggled as the side's target man.

And Ighalo has already given the team a boost according to his new boss.

“Yes, this weekend he [saw the] boys," the United boss told MUTV.

"Again, that’s going to be great for us, to not just add an extra body, but a personality, someone who can help and someone who scores goals.

"It gives the group a boost.”

Shortly after arriving Ighalo outlined how he would transform United's front line and fans will be hoping to see the striker make his debut against Chelsea on Monday evening.

Asked if he can make a difference, Ighalo told MUTV: "Yeah, because sometimes I watch the games and they don’t have like a striker who stays mostly in the middle.

"[Anthony] Martial likes to come from the side, even [Marcus] Rashford and all that. So they need someone in the middle who can keep the ball, hold the ball.

"Because I watched so many United games and they need that physicality there to keep the ball, to give, to make some movement. Which I believe, if everything goes well, I can add to the team."
