Odion Ighalo available to make Manchester United debut against Chelsea despite missing Spain trip

Odion Ighalo could make his Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Monday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed.

The Nigerian, 30, made a shock move to Old Trafford at the end of the January transfer window, joining on loan until the end of the season from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

The former Watford star has not travelled to Spain with his teammates though due to the coronavirus outbreak.

United took the measure due to the uncertainty surrounding whether he would be allowed back to return to the country, having arrived from China in the previous fortnight.

But despite missing the trip to Marbella, Solskjaer insists Ighalo is now ready and available to be used on Monday at Stamford Bridge.

“Yeah, he is going to travel with us,” Solskjaer told the club’s website.

“We will just see his fitness work this week and I think we will get him sharp.

“We want to integrate him as quickly as we can because, of course, he is desperate to play for us.”

Solskjaer is delighted with the impact of the warm weather training camp.

“Yeah, it’s been very good. I think the boys enjoyed a break, they needed a break, but now they are back, focused and they have been working well,” Solskjaer added.

“Yeah [the conditions have been ideal], of course with the weather back home as well, this has been an even bigger plus for us.

“Being in Europe, because the travel isn’t too far, is also a good point because we don’t have too many days before we have to go back and get ready for Chelsea.”
