Odia girl Kashika Mishra secures World Amateur Golf Ranking

BHUBANESWAR: Odia girl Kashika Mishra has secured a WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) at the age of 16. Winning the Amway Nutrilite Golf Tour - ITC Classic event that took place from May 17 to 19 in Delhi helped her to achieve this.

It was a qualifying event for the FCG Callaway World Championship Junior Golf Tournament 2023 at Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, California, USA, in July 2023. She has also been selected for the tour.

Kashika, born to Brigadier TK Mishra and Kiran, hails from Dharakot in Ganjam district. Her talent in golf was spotted in 2019, when she started practicing full time at the age of 12, while her father was posted at Delhi. Her father, a keen golfer himself, noticed the latent talent in her and started taking her to the Golf Course.

Her father was the first coach. Later her full-time coaching was started with a professional coach at Gurugram. Now she trains with renowned coaches at DLF Academy.

Kashika has won nine tours she participated in 2022-23 and was Runners-up two, most notably the Amway Nutrilite tour WAGR. While his father is posted in a forward area, for the last two years, it’s her mother Kiran singlehandedly helps her in everything.

This Class XI student attends school whenever not having tournaments. Her school at Gurugram supports extra classes adjusting to her golf schedule. She consistently performs well securing a percentile of 90.
