Odeon cinema staff reveal nine secrets about working there - including the truth about sneaking your own snacks in

Have you ever wondered what it's like to work in an Odeon cinema?

Well wonder no more, as the Daily Star spoke to some employees who revealed what a shift at the Odeon is really like.

Staff reveal the truth about Ice Blast machines and why they always seem to be broken. They also discuss misconceptions about sneaking your own food into the cinema.

Cinema workers also talked about some of the perks of the job, including celebrity meetings and watching movies for free.

Here are nine confessions from Odeon staff:

1. They get to watch movies for free

This truly is a perk of the job - and workers have become ruthless movie critics as a result.

2. People really do get intimate in the cinema

In the darkness, couples get frisky in the cinema - and they're not subtle about it.

Staff will shine a torch in your eyes if they suspect you're up to no good.

3. You don't need to sneak snacks in

Many people think you can't bring your own snacks into the cinema, but this isn't the case.

Staff find it hilarious watching customers smuggle food in, but you're actually allowed to bring it in.

However, there are rules and restrictions about bringing in hot food.

4. Staff dread big film releases

Most people get excited about a big film release, but not Odeon cinema staff.

Hundreds of excited customers queue and there often isn't enough room to seat them.

They also leave behind a lot of mess when the movie is over.

5. They don't set the prices

We all know how expensive food and drink can be at the cinema, but staff there don't set the prices.

Customers can complain and joke about having to remortgage their homes, but there is nothing staff can do to reduce prices.

6. Staff aren't lying when the Ice Blast machines are broken

When staff say the Ice Blast machines are broken, they really are broken - it's not just an excuse to avoid the effort of pouring one.

The machines can also be down for maintenance sometimes, so be patient with staff.

7. Odeon workers have the power to kick people out

Staff can decide who is kicked out of a screening, so avoid being excessively noisy or annoying.

If customers complain about other people watching the movie, staff have the power to remove them.

8. The cinema is a celebrity hotspot

Celebrities are people, too and many spend their evenings watching a movie.

It’s not uncommon to see famous faces at an Odeon cinema.

The darkly-lit theatres are the perfect hideout spot for celebs who don't want to be seen, so it makes sense, really.

9. Everything smells like popcorn

The sweet and salty smell lingers on worker's clothes well after a shift has ended.

However, this isn't always a bad thing to staff who like the smell.
