Odell Beckham was Giants’ highest-graded offensive player in 2018

Going into last season, New York Giants fans couldn’t wait to see the combination of Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley on the field together. Of course, there were some questions regarding how explosive Beckham would be coming off the injury that ended his 2017 season early.

Beckham showed he was more than fine, but it was Barkley that took over as the team’s focal point on the offensive side of the ball. Barkley went on to win many awards, including the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus released their final grades for the Giants from the 2018 season and Beckham actually had the highest overall grade.

Beckham earned a score of 90.0 overall followed by Barkley, who received a grade of 85.9. The two on the field together are really something and it’s something Giants fans are looking forward to for years to come.

Meanwhile, Evan Engram (76.5), Nate Soldier (74.1) and Sterling Shepard (67.3) rounded out the top five grades for the Giants offense.

Some might be surprised by the fact that Beckham received a higher grade than teammate Saquon Barkley.

Sure, the numbers were short of what we are used to seeing Beckham’ stats amounting to, and we didn’t see the flashy five-yard slants that went the distance in 2018. Still, Beckham proved to be a dynamic target for Eli Manning. In fact, the Giants struggled without him as he missed the final four games.

Beckham added two passing touchdowns this season — one to Saquon Barkley against the Carolina Panthers and one to Russell Sheppard against the Chicago Bears.

Beckham had trade rumors that surrounded him last offseason before the Giants locked him up to a long-term deal. Although it’s unlikely that Beckham is moved this offseason, that hasn’t stopped people from talking about the possibility of him, getting traded. In fact, just last week Jay Glazer made Beckham being traded one of his bold predictions for the offseason.
