Odell Beckham says he wants to turn the Browns into the Patriots

Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham has lofty aspirations for his new franchise. During an appearance at the 2019 Met Gala on Tuesday, the star wideout shared his expectations for a quick turnaround in Cleveland.

“I plan on being there for the next five years and trying to bring as many championships there as possible,” Beckham told GQ’s Cam Wolf , “turning [the Browns] into the new Patriots.”

Beckham joined the Browns this offseason amid major turnover in Cleveland — they had Freddie Kitchens take over as interim head coach during the regular season, and hired him officially in the offseason. Baker Mayfield, the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has also taken charge at quarterback.

Beckham also wasn’t the only major offseason acquisition. They acquired defensive end Oliver Vernon, defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, left tackle Greg Robinson and running back Kareem Hunt, who will start the season on suspension for an incident when he was seen kicking a woman in a hotel in Cleveland. With out a doubt, Beckham is the headliner.

While there’s reason for optimism in Cleveland — particularly after Beckham’s arrival — the Patriots’ success has been tremendous, with six Super Bowl wins under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.

Still, you can’t blame Beckham for aiming high.
