Odell Beckham Jr. says he couldn’t reach his full potential with the Giants

Superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has been open about his messy exit from New York since being traded to the Cleveland Browns in March, and he’s taken a few shots at his old team during the offseason. Beckham held a Q&A with his “haters” in April, and later indirectly criticized former teammate Eli Manning in his praise of Browns star Baker Mayfield after arriving in Cleveland.

During a stop in London this summer, Beckham said in an interview with Complex that the Giants were holding him back mentally, physically, and spiritually, and reiterated that he couldn’t be happier to have landed in Cleveland.

Via Complex:

“I just felt with the Giants I was just stuck at a place that wasn’t working for me anymore. I felt like I wasn’t going to be able to reach my full potential there; mentally, physically, spiritually, everything I felt capable of doing, I just couldn’t see it happening there. So I think allowing me to be in an environment where I can be myself and give it a different approach, I feel like my football will benefit. I’m just excited about being able to play football again and not have to deal with all the other stuff and politics that came with my previous role.”
