Odell Beckham Jr. returns to practice field for the Cleveland Browns

BEREA, Ohio — The Browns welcomed Odell Beckham Jr. back to the practice field as they kicked off mandatory minicamp.

Beckham practiced Tuesday for the first time since the star wide receiver suffered a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee Oct. 25 at Cincinnati.

Beckham went through individual drills early in practice and had no brace, wrap or sleeve on his surgically repaired knee. He did not participate in team drills (11 on 11).

The Browns have been optimistic about Beckham's comeback ever since he had surgery Nov. 10.

"He looked good to me," Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said on Zoom after practice. "He did some individual drills. He did routes on air. He's still progressing through. I think he's seven or eight months post-ACL surgery, and he looks a lot different than I did seven or eight months post-ACL."

Whether Beckham will be ready for a full workload when training camp begins in late July remains to be seen. Veterans are scheduled to report July 27.

"We'll see," Stefanski said. "He looked good today, day one of minicamp, and then we'll progress and make sure that we're having obviously dialogue with the player, with the training staff, the medical staff, et cetera."

Last week, Beckham was among the Browns player who joined quarterback Baker Mayfield for workouts in Austin, Texas.
