The New York Giants shocked the football world Tuesday night with a trade that involves sending star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns for multiple draft picks and safety Jabrill Peppers.
As Beckham Jr. steps out of the bright lights en route to Cleveland, there will be a familiar face waiting for him upon his arrival. That face will be fellow wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who is someone Beckham Jr. considers family.
With the shocking trade Tuesday night, Beckham Jr. will once again be reunited with Landry (as well as wide receivers coach Adam Henry) after the stud duo spent their collegiate years terrorizing opposing defenses for LSU.
While the two went their separate ways in the 2014 NFL Draft — Beckham Jr. was a first-round pick, while Landy was a second-rounder — they have always spoken about the opportunity to work alongside each other once again in a professional manner.
The two young stars have excelled since entering the league. Beckham Jr. has been considered one of the best (if not the best) wideouts in the game, shattering records left and right during the early years of his career.
The 26-year-old has recorded three seasons of at least 91 receptions, 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns over the span of his five-year career.
Landry, on the other hand, has been a reception monster during his time with the Miami Dolphins and the Cleveland Browns. He’s averaged 96.2 receptions per season since entering the league.
Beckham Jr. and Landry have been extremely close since their days playing at LSU. That brotherhood has continued into the NFL, and the pair of star receivers will now get to work on the same field again. This time, though, they will be in the prime of their careers.
