Odell Beckham Jr. expected to sit out preseason game vs. Colts

We will have to wait a little longer to see Odell Beckham Jr. make his game debut for the Cleveland Browns. The Pro Bowl wide receiver is not expected to play in the team’s second preseason game, Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts.

In fact, Beckham sounds like he won’t play at all in the preseason. The veteran is nursing a hip injury that has also kept him in limited duty during recent practice sessions. He did not participate in any of the joint sessions with the Colts.

After acknowledging he “feels great”, Beckham offered his assessment of his well-being and readiness to roll.

“It’s just preseason, there’s no point in trying to push anything right now. We play Sept. 8, so that’s all you really get ready for,” Beckham told reporters on Thursday.

Beckham’s absence is more of a chance for guys like Derrick Willies, Jaelen Strong and Damion Ratley to prove they belong on the Browns’ final 53-man roster.
