Odell Beckham Jr. bothered by a hip injury

Fans in Indianapolis hoping to see Odell Beckham Jr. in action got disappointing news on Wednesday. The Browns star wide receiver did not practice in the joint session with the Colts because of a hip injury.

The Browns confirmed the hip injury but did not specify the severity, other than to refute a report from ESPN that Beckham has a hip pointer. Coach Freddie Kitchens acknowledged the status when talking to reporters after Wednesday’s practice.

“He’s got a little bit of something going on, but we expect him back pretty soon,” Kitchens said.

Will Beckham make his Browns preseason debut on Saturday in Lucas Oil Stadium? Kitchens was noncommittal.

“We haven’t decided yet,” Kitchens said. “He probably could play, though.”

Beckham has a history of injury issues. He missed four games in 2018 and 12 in 2017 while a member of the New York Giants. The wideout has played a full 16-game schedule just once in his five NFL seasons.
