Oddsmakers project Thunder to have lowest win total since first year in OKC

In four of the last 10 seasons, the Oklahoma City Thunder have won 50 or more regular season games, the last time being 2015-16 (55). In the other six seasons, the Thunder won 45 to 49 games each year. During the span, they only missed the playoffs in 2014-15 (45-37).

The one outlier in the 11 years the Thunder have been in Oklahoma City is the franchise’s inaugural season, 2008-09, when the team went 23-59. Kevin Durant was in his second season, Russell Westbrook was a rookie and the roster also included Jeff Green, Chris Wilcox (for part of the year), Earl Watson and a 28-year-old Nick Collison. Needless to say, it was a different time.

Well, now the Thunder are once again at the start of something different, with the team’s top players now being Chris Paul and Steven Adams, along with the possible future face of the franchise, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Not a title-contending team, but one that can cause fits here and there throughout the loaded Western Conference.

And oddsmakers don’t expect those “fits” to manifest into too many wins. Bovada set the Thunder’s win total over/under at 32.5 wins. And Bovada thinks Oklahoma City is less likely hit the over in 2019-20, setting the money line on the under at -130.

Caesars Palace set the Thunder’s win total over/under slightly lower at 31 wins.
