Oddsmakers not high on Thunder in early 2019-20 NBA Finals projections

The 2019-20 NBA season has a chance to be one of the most compelling from start to finish with the absence of a huge favorite to with the championship.

Although they just lost to ex-Thunder forward Serge Ibaka’s Toronto Raptors, the Golden State Warriors have been the NBA’s measuring stick since LeBron James left the Miami Heat. But with Kevin Durant tearing his Achilles and Klay Thompson doing the same to his ACL, both the Western Conference and the NBA title are up for grabs.

Even with that being the case, the sportsbooks don’t think 2019-20 is Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder’s year to win it all.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook puts the Thunder’s odds at 16-to-1, tied at ninth with the Denver Nuggets.

Sportsbook.ag has the Thunder’s line set at +2000, once again giving them the ninth-best odds at winning the NBA Finals, still in line with the Nuggets.

Bovada sets Oklahoma City’s line at +4000, while BetOnline.ag and SportsBetting.ag showed a little more faith (+3300). However, BetOnline and SportsBetting gave the Thunder same odds as the New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans, among several other teams.

Pointsbet.com gave the Thunder the same odds and ranking as Sportsbook.ag, but the site doesn’t believe they can match their 49 win total from 2018-19, setting the over/under for Oklahoma City wins at 46.5 games.

Safe to say, the Thunder are underdogs heading into the season.
