Odds slashed on Steve Bruce to be the next Premier League manager to leave after Leicester thrashing

Odds have been slashed on Steve Bruce being the next manager to leave, following Newcastle United’s humiliating 5-0 defeat to Leicester City.

Bookmakers have unanimously slashed odds from 14/1 before the weekend, into 4/1 as of this morning (September 30).

That’s due to the heavy flow of money following yesterday’s defeat at the King Power Stadium, as a whopping 73 per cent of all bets in the market backed Bruce to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post.

Everton boss Marco Silva remains favourite but has drifted in the market from 6/4 out to 9/4, as stakes turn towards to Tyneside, rather than Merseyside.

Elsewhere, Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been pushed out to 6/1, followed by Mauricio Pochettino (9/1), Quique Sanchez Flores (12/1) and Dean Smith (16/1).

The betting markets, in general, don’t make for great reading for Newcastle fans at the moment, as Bruce’s side cemented their spot as clear favourite to be relegated.

Sunday's 5-0 drubbing in the East Midlands has left the Magpies second bottom of the Premier League with some difficult matches on the horizon.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "Newcastle's horrendous league form isn't coming as a surprise to many, as Steve Bruce continues to flounder in his dream job.

“Newcastle were priced at 11/8 to be relegated before the weekend, although that’s now odds-on with at least 20 British bookmakers.

“All in all, Mike Ashley's purse-string preserving gamble is appearing to backfire."
