Frank Lampard is now the favourite to become the next manager of Chelsea.
Rumours have persisted in the last few months of Lampard returning to the club where he made 648 appearances.
The 40-year-old is currently preparing for Derby’s Championship play-off final against Aston Villa, with the Rams 13/10 to reach the top flight for the first time in 12 years.
But it could be his last game in charge at Pride Park with the odds being slashed into 5/6 for the former midfielder to replace Maurizio Sarri in the Stamford Bridge hot-seat.
Oddschecker report that 79% of bets in the last 48 hours have gone on Lampard to make the move, a clear indication of his dominance in the market.
If Chelsea do look elsewhere, then the likes of Diego Simeone (5/1), Nuno (8/1) and Massimiliano Allegri (7/1) are all in the frame.
As for Sarri, Juventus could well be his next port of call, with the Italian just 5/2 to fill the vacant hot-seat of the Serie A champions.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Frank Lampard’s possible return to Stamford Bridge has certainly caught the imagination; the next Chelsea manager page was the second most popular page on Oddschecker when the story broke this morning.
“It’s not ideal preparation for Derby though, who will want Lampard focused on the job in hand ahead of the crucial play-off final next Monday.”
