UFC star Conor McGregor is fast becoming a contender to become the next President of Ireland after joining the nation's Covid-19 fight.
Odds on the Dubliner trading the Octagon for Aras an Uachtaran have plummeted over the last month, with McGregor now just 20/1 - a startling contrast to his 500/1 odds just last month.
It comes after he was hailed for by a leading doctor for donating over €1.5million worth of PPE equipment since the pandemic began, leading to many punters backing the fighter to move into politics.
Leon Blanche, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The latest pictures of Conor McGregor delivering PPE all over Dublin seem to have gone down well with punters and the huge odds on a future Presidential campaign have shrunk as a result.
"We’re only 20/1 about him filling Michael D. Higgins’ shoes even though he was a 50/1 shot earlier this week.”

Dr. Nina Byrnes, Medical Director at Generation Health Medical Clinics in Dublin, described how McGregor arrived unexpectedly this week with a massive donation.
And after checking the delivery, Byrnes found herself rushing to thank McGregor, describing the moment by saying 'it was like Christmas'.
“He himself and his team arrived into my surgery yesterday unexpected with a box. We were so shocked we sort of said, ‘Thank you,’ and were stunned", Byrnes said on The Tonight Show on Virgin Media One last night.
"When they went out the door we opened the box and realised that they were gowns, and honestly it was like Christmas. Myself and my manager ran downstairs after them to thank them because we had been trying really hard to get gowns.
"We could only find them at €9 a gown and you had to order 200, and we couldn’t afford to do that. So I would have had no gowns today if not for the charity.”
