Odds released on Conor McGregor v Manny Pacquiao after pair claim boxing fight is happening

Bookmakers have made Manny Pacquiao the overwhelming favourite to beat Conor McGregor after the pair claimed that a deal is being made for the fight.

To take place in the Middle East, for late this year or early in 2021, it would be McGregor's second professional boxing match after losing to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

The 32-year-old Crumlin man is a two-time UFC world champion and after beating Donald Cerrone in January, he later claimed to be retiring from combat sports.

But he and 41-year-old Filipino boxing great Pacquiao are said to be close to agreeing details for a showdown.

Pacquiao, a veteran of 71 professional fights, last fought in July 2019 when he defeated Keith Thurman by split decision for the WBA super welterweight title.

Bookies Paddy Power make Pacquiao the 1/6 favourite to beat The Notorious if they meet in a boxing ring, while McGregor is available at 7/2.

You can get 4/11 that Pacquiao will win inside the distance as Mayweather did against McGregor.

Spokesman Paddy Power said: “Ouch, I wouldn’t fancy being the person who tells McGregor that he looks likely to be on the ropes for his next fight before it is even officially announced. Unless there were thousands of miles between us of course.

“Although, if there’s one thing we know about Conor, it’s that he’s a real fighter and we can be sure that he’ll go big or go home.”
