Odds project Redskins as bottom-five NFC team

Let a new formula based on odds out of Las Vegas tell it, the Washington Redskins are set to have a tough time in 2019.

Chase Stuart at Football Perspective took the point spreads from 240 games in 2019 and threw them into a formula that accounts for strength of schedule and other details:

“The way to do this is to take the point spread in each game, adjust for home field (except for the five international games), and then determine by how many points Vegas thinks Team A is better than Team B.”

Based on the data, the Redskins rank 26th overall and are down minus-three in terms of expected outcome against all opponents. They also boast one of the league’s toughest strength of schedules.

While the Redskins do always seem to hover around the .500 mark, there is an outside chance they start rookie Dwayne Haskins at quarterback, meaning it all falls on good injury luck and the defense once again.

Of course, spreads will change between now and the games themselves. But for now, the snapshot doesn’t look great.
