Is Nessie about to be discovered? Paddy Power certainly seems to think so.
An incredible sonar image taken at Loch Ness has seen the bookie slash odds on the elusive creature being found.
The sonar probe, which showed a 30ft shape detected below the surface of the Loch, has led Paddy Power to shorten their odds of the monster being proven to be real in 2020 from 10/1 to 4/1.
The image was captured by Cruise Loch Ness director Ronald Mackenzie while he was skippering a catamaran on Wednesday afternoon and shows a large object at more than 500ft below the surface of the loch.
A spokesperson for the Paddy Power said: " 2020 is truly the year that keeps on giving, and this time, we believe the latest gift is in the form of the maybe not-so mythical creature, the Loch Ness monster."
They are offering even shorter odds Nessie's existence being proven next year at just 2/1.
There have eight recorded sightings of Nessie in 2020.
Should Nessie be found this year or next, the odds are 50/1 that the creature will be set free into the sea, or 100/1 that it will be housed in a zoo.
The Paddy Power spokesperson added: “This year has been a year for bizarre sightings and mythical-feeling goings on, and it seems we might be able to top it all off by proving the existence of the Loch Ness monster.
“The latest sonar probe sighting has forced us to cut the odds into the shortest price they’ve ever been that the creature is proved as real, and that could happen before the end of 2021.”
