With the roster already stacked as is, it’ll be challenging for the majority of the Chargers’ rookies to contribute right out the gate with the exception being defensive tackle Jerry Tillery, free safety Nasir Adderley and possibly linebacker Drue Tranquill.
Sportsbook Review compiled Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year odds from betting sites across the internet. Tillery, Adderley and Tranquill were all listed as candidates for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
Tillery has the highest odds among the three at +3050. His odds are slightly better at Intertops.eu at +2500. The most notable players that he is tied with are Packers’ Rashan Gary and Lions’ Jahlani Tavai.
Adderley has the next best odds among the trio at 45/1. Meanwhile, Tranquill is a long shot at 66/1.
Defensive end Nick Bosa of the 49ers is the favorite at 15/2, followed by linebackers Devin White and Devin Bush at 8/1.
The rookies on the defensive side of the ball are quite stacked across the league so it’s unlikely that these players will garner any attention when choosing the winner of the award. In our opinion, Adderley would have the best shot if he is able to post a large amount of interceptions on the season.
