Odds closing in on Ireland's hottest ever temperature to be recorded as BoyleSports offers 2/1 for 33.3C to be broken

Bookies are offering short odds that the highest ever Irish temperature overall will be broken this year.

Mindful of the influence of global warming, BoyleSports are offering 2/1, in from 3/1, that it will be hotter than the 33.3C recorded in Ireland in 1887.

And BoyleSports have it at just 2/1 that April 2019 will break its all-time hottest temperature during the month, of 25.8C. The highest temperature recorded in April 2018 was 20C.

Meanwhile it is 5/6, in from 11/10, for Ireland to surpass last year's highest temperature of 32C.

BoyleSports have priced up June to be the month the highest temperature will be recorded at just 11/8 with July the second favourite at 6/4.

The punters of Donegal will be disappointed if the highest temperature is not recorded there as it’s priced up at 33/1, with Tipperary and Clare sharing the battle for favouritism at 7/2. Co Clare recorded the highest temperature last year at Shannon Airport.

Meanwhile, the coldest ever temperature recorded in April is as low as -7.7C and BoyleSports offers 14/1 for this record to be broken.

They are also offering 7/1 for April 2018 record of -5.3C to be broken.

Sarah Kinsella, BoyleSports spokesperson, said: "It was great to have such a lovely hot summer last year and after a mild winter, the 2/1 for Ireland to break the record of 33.3 looks pretty generous and we have had a lot of support for this.

"There has also been some interest in last year’s highest temperature of 32C being surpassed as we have had to slice the price from 11/10 into 5/6."
