Oda comes in 5th

GANGNEUNG -- Speed skater Takuro Oda finished fifth in the men's 1,500 meters on Tuesday, securing Japan's first top-8 finish since the 1998 Nagano Games, where Hiroyuki Noake came in seventh and Toru Aoyanagi was eighth.

Oda clocked a time of 1 minute 45.44 seconds. Shane Williamson was 10th in 1:46.21, and Shota Nakamura was 24th in 1:47.38.
