'Octomum' Nadya Suleman has spoken out about her 14-year-old son Aidan, who has been diagnosed with autism.
The 44-year-old mum - who shot to fame in 2009 after welcoming octuplets - discussed the condition with fans in a lengthy Instagram post.
Posting a video of Aidan playing, she wrote: "This is my adolescent infant Aidan. He is 14 years old, going on one in his head. Aidan is severely autistic and [needs] total care.
"He requires complete assistance in meeting all needs in activities of daily living. Aidan is non-verbal, requires feeding, changing (he is not potty trained), bathing, and one-to-one supervision, as he has no safety awareness and would walk aimlessly into traffic. I, his mother, am, and always have been, his ONLY care provider.
"This 'job' is my life (other than caring for 13 other children singlehandedly). My children are my LIFE," she said.
Nadya then vowed to care for Aidan until she died.
The mum has gained a huge following on social media by documenting details of her busy family life.
Nadya made headlines around the world when she gave birth to octuplets - six boys and two girls - and was given the nickname 'Octomum'.
Never before had so many babies been born at once and survived. Nadya already had six other children who were also conceived by IVF.
The mum of 14 soon became a media sensation and later the object of scorn and ridicule.
After turning away from the spotlight, Nadya gave a rare interview with the New York Times last December.
The journalist who visited her home described meeting the family at three-three-bedroomed Orange County townhouse.
Adam Popescu wrote: “They’re polite, they cook, they’re vegan, they read two books a month and do their homework without being prompted. In spite of all the horror stories in the tabloids since birth, they’re model fourth graders. How did she do it?”
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine last month, Nadya showed how she was managing to bring up her kids in the best possible way.
And she said everything changed when she “ran away from the ‘Octomom’ persona’ and turned her attention to being a normal mother.
