Octogenarian running pillar to post, gets her 1.5 bigah land back after Lucknow DM's intervention

LUCKNOW: An 83-year-old widow running pillar to post for her 1.5 bigah land encroached by her nephew, finally had a smile on her wrinkled face after instant intervention by Lucknow district magistrate Suryapal Gangwar on Saturday.

In a viral video on social media, the octogenarian identified as Shivkumari was approached by DM from his seat while she was standing among the crowd inside the Sarojni Nagar tehsil court. The DM was seen enquiring about the land issue. After listening to her, the DM asked Shivkumari to wait for a few moments and instructed present staff to call her nephew Rinku Kumar.

"After presenting himself in front of DM, Rinku Kumar confessed that he somehow managed to grab his aunt’s land. Following which DM instructed to revoke Rinku’s ownership on the 1.5 bigah land and instructed SDM Sarojni Nagar to register the land on Shivkumari’s name," read the statement issued by DM office.

Shivkumari doesn’t have a child and used to live with her nephew, when he grabbed over her land.

After receiving her registry papers of the land, Shivkumari siad, "I have no words to express my happiness. I extend my blessing to DM and his men who helped me to get my land back."
