October half term weather: Here's when the rain will break this week

On the heels of an amber weather warning across Wales, October half term is set to welcome some of the best weather in weeks.

Forecasters predict the relentless rain which has recently plagued the country will finally give way toward the end of the month.

"The week ahead will bring good news. The end of October, including Halloween, will be largely dry across the United Kingdom with high pressure around," AccuWeather meteorologist Tyler Roys said.

In Wales temperatures are forecast to be seasonable, but chilly, reaching into the mid to upper single digits on most days.

Areas closer to the coast will hover around 10C for most of the week.

But during the overnight hours chilly air will settle in with a widespread frost likely.

Mr Roys said: "Temperatures will largely be around 0C, give or take a few degrees.

"But the coldest night of the week could possibly be Halloween night with widespread min temps ranging from -5C to -2C."

Children heading to Halloween parties and venturing out to trick-or-treat should wrap up as colder air grips the country.

"By next weekend, a storm system from the west could bring another round of rain to Wales, but high pressure will do its best to keep the area dry," Mr Roys added.
