Ocean's Eleven and Toy Story star Carl Reiner dies aged 98

Actor and producer Carl Reiner has died aged 98.

According to TMZ the star died on Monday night at his Beverley Hills home surrounded by family.

Reiner was best known as the creator, producer, writer and actor on The Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s. He cast then unknown actress Mary Tyler Moore to play Dick's wife and made huge stars of them both

He later formed a comedy duo with Mel Brooks in 2000 Year Old Man where he honed his talent for writing and moved into film - reports Mirror Online.

Reiner co-wrote and directed some of Steve Martin's most successful comedies including Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, Man with Two Brains and All of Me.

He also appeared in many silver screen hits himself including the popular Ocean's film franchise as Saul Bloom.

Over his career, Reiner was awarded some of the industries top honours including nine Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and The Mark Twain Prize.

One of his last roles was providing the voice of Carl Reineroceros in Toy Story 4.

Reiner also made numerous appearances in TV shows including Two and a Half Men, Hot in Cleveland and House.
