Ocean Outdoor makes roadside ads investment in time for Euro 2020 and COP26

Advertising company Ocean Outdoor is stepping up out of home advertising in Scotland by introducing a new roadside network including high profile sites.

The investment programme creates a network of 93 digital locations on major arterial routes in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

This “super premium channel” of digital out of home it said provides 70% of cover across all key routes and delivers 26 million impacts in a fortnight.

The company said that the live delivery platform gives advertisers the chance to reach audiences at a time when Scotland is due to host significant events including the Euro 2020 football championships and the UN Climate Change conference COP26, when world leaders and 30,000 delegates are scheduled to travel to Glasgow in November.

The company’s XL Network will launch in Scotland on 9 March with six sites on major arterial routes.

Each XL screen is one-and a half times larger than the standard boards which are 48-sheet.

The Glasgow locations are in Aikenhead Road, Duke Street, Glasgow Road, two screens in Springburn Road, and Victoria Road.

OGS, together with AGS Airports, is launching what will be Scotland’s advertising tower on the M8 motorway.

The company said the 40 metre high double-sided advertising screen near Glasgow Airport would deliver more than two million impacts a fortnight.

Ocean Scotland managing director Marc Keenan said: “Ocean has developed a new breed of premium digital assets and quality audience delivery networks which are designed to meet the expectations of brands, advertisers and citizens in two of the UK’s most sustainable, forward-thinking cities.

“Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are textbook cities for how DOOH should look in a digital connected city.”

Last year, Ocean secured a long-term contract with City Property Investments, the property arm of Glasgow City Council, to redevelop and introduce new roadside and city centre digital advertising screens.

The 15-year Glasgow contract, which is for selected premium locations, was awarded following a competitive tender.
