Ocasio-Cortez slams Border Patrol for obscene memes about her and migrants

NEW YORK _ Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., says Customs and Border Patrol agents showed their unfitness to serve by joking about killing migrants and sharing sexually explicit memes about her.

The outspoken opponent of President Donald Trump's hard-line immigration policies said a shocking secret Facebook group exposes the racism and misogyny at the core of the nation's border law enforcement agency.

"This isn't about 'a few bad eggs.' This is a violent culture," Ocasio-Cortez said. "How on earth can CBP's culture be trusted to care for refugees humanely?"

Members of the 9,500-strong private group shared jokes about killing Central American immigrants and digitally edited images to purportedly show Ocasio-Cortez being forced to perform oral sex on Trump. They also targeted Rep. Laura Escobar, D-Texas, another young female lawmaker who has harshly criticized Trump's anti-immigrant crackdown.

The group even suggested starting a crowdfunding site to defend anyone who would attack the two lawmakers "with burritos" during their scheduled visit to a detention camp for refugees seeking asylum.

AOC insisted she had no plans to scrap the visit set for Monday afternoon.

The group is called "I'm 10-15," which is Border Patrol code for "aliens in custody." Its existence and the disturbing content were revealed by Politico.

Along with the NSFW memes, the Border Patrol agents regularly showed a shocking lack of respect for migrants and asylum-seekers. One member referred to the father and daughter who drowned trying to cross the Rio Grande as "floaters" and suggested a viral image of them might have been staged by "liberals."

"Have y'all ever seen floaters look this clean?" the agent asked.
