Obsession star left 'covered in bruises' after filming erotic Netflix thriller

Charlie Murphy has revealed that she was left "covered in bruises" after filming sex scenes for her latest Netflix show Obsession.

The actress, who has previously starred in Peaky Blinders and Happy Valley opened up about the difficulties of filming the raunchy scenes with her co-star Richard Armitage.

Explaining how the bruises, which she claims are all over her body, including her toes, came about, Charlie told Josh Smith on the Reign podcast : "There's nothing in that apartment. They never used the furniture, anyway!

"We were covered, covered in bruises," she added. "There was no give in that hardwood - it was not great... My bruises were on my knees, my toes, elbows, all the bony bits!"

The show see Charlie's character Anna Barton fall into a love affair with her fiancée's dad which quickly turns into an erotic infatuation that threatens to change their lives forever.

The four-part mini series has ruffled a few feathers among its audiences, with some left cringing at a solo sex scene involving Richard's character William and a hotel room pillow.

"I will never look at another hotel pillow the same after Obsession on @ Netflix," one viewer wrote.

A second put: "I'll be bringing my own pillow and sheets next time I stay at a hotel #Obsession Netflix."

A third added: "This TV show I’m watching on Netflix wild asf but must watch#ObsessionNetflix."

"Me be taking my own pillows from home every time I go to a hotel now…least I know where they’ve been. #ObsessionNetflix," a fourth cringed.

Meanwhile the sex scenes throughout the show were "empowering" for Charlie to film and she revealed she felt "in control" throughout the whole process.

"I felt in control and that's empowering and fun," she said. "We had a lot of fun on set. We had a lot of fun because we felt protected.

"They set up the atmosphere of consent and boundaries and we do a touch map all over your body and we would work through, ‘Okay, I'm happy being touched there. I'm happy being touched there, but not there,'" Charlie continued.
