Observations from the Blackhawks' OT win over the Oilers

Nov. 19--The Blackhawks didn't look like the team that had played so well in their last two victories, but they pulled out two points in a 4-3 overtime victory over the Oilers on Wednesday night. Marian Hossa and Corey Crawford came up big in the overtime.

Here are some other notes from the win as the Blackhawks get ready to play Calgary on Friday.

Second line strikes again

Patrick Kane doled out two assists. Artemi Panarin scored a goal and added an assist. The second line continues to take the NHL by storm. While Kane and Panarin again attracted a lot of attention, it was Artem Anisimov who made the key play on Panarin's goal. After Anisimov got the puck from Kane at the left circle, three Oilers surrounded him. But he got the puck out to Panarin, who found the back of the net. All along, both Kane and Panarin have said Anisimov is the glue that helps hold the second line together. Plays like that show why.

Teuvo hurting

Winger Teuvo Teravainen played his last shift with 14 minutes, 38 seconds left in the second period. He didn't return the rest of the night with what coach Joel Quenneville said was an upper-body injury. Teravainen's status for Friday is questionable.

Dano takes a seat

While Teravainen was hurt and could not play, that wasn't the case with winger Marko Dano, who played sparingly in the third period (just four shifts overall), and did not play the first half of the third period.

"I shortened it up," Quenneville said. "We were missing a guy, had 11 forwards, using mostly three lines in the third."
