Obscure bet on Liverpool FC game lands punter with a big win

A betting punter won an impressive sum thanks to an obscure 90/1 bet on Liverpool FC's clash with Leicester City on Sunday night.

The Reds continued their defence of the league title with a comprehensive victory over Leicester City at Anfield.

An own goal from Jonny Evans and goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino saw the Reds secure a comfortable three points at home.

And their performance on the pitch saw one punter take a home a respectable amount of cash - but it wasn't because of the result.

Someone predicted the Reds would make 12 or more shots on target, with odds of 90/1.

The Paddy Power customer, who hasn't been named, placed a £15 bet online, the Daily Star reports.

And the obscure bet paid off, with the Reds forcing Kasper Schmeichel into action 13 times.

Including their stake, the punter took home a cool £1,365 - with £1,350 of that sum being profit.

Given the high odds, some might be inclined to say it was a lucky bet. But they'd be wrong to make that assumption.

The same punter laid down the same bet three weeks ago ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash with Atalanta.

Their prediction came to fruition and saw them pocket £1,010 from a £10 bet.

Liverpool will be back in action on Wednesday night, welcoming Atalanta to Anfield for their fourth Champions League Group D match.
