Barack Obama isn't finished with presidential business quite yet.
The former president has met with several Democrats considering runs for the White House in 2020, giving advice on how to campaign against President Donald Trump, according to multiple reports.
Some Democrats have accused Obama of not doing enough to promote the party since leaving office, but several people close to the former -president told Politico that he is in an all-hands-on-deck mode for 2020, resulting in at least 10 meetings at his Washington office with potential presidential candidates.
As of Monday, the sources said, Obama had met with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., former Vice President Joe Biden, former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Peter Buttigieg.
The meetings have been casual, according to the sources, focusing mainly on how the potential candidates should counteract and respond to Trump's combative rhetoric.
Some of the meetings were requested by the potential candidates, while others came because Obama has kept in touch with some of them since leaving office. The latter category includes Biden and Holder, both of whom worked in his administration.
A spokesperson for Obama did not respond to a request for comment.
