The security council just passed the resolution on nuclear disarmament and non proliferation unanimously. Obama spoke briefly afterwards, presenting it as a decisive moment on the way to the abolition of nuclear weapons. He said: "This historic resolution enshrines our commitment to the goal of world without nuclear weapons."
With future domestic difficulties in mind no doubt, he heaped praise on Ronald Reagan, who had the same general idea, and the likes of Henry Kissinger, who has embraced and helped lead the abolition movement, and who was sitting in the council chamber.
