Oasis posters appear around Manchester's Northern Quarter ahead of 25th anniversary of band's debut album Definitely Maybe

Oasis posters have appeared around Manchester city centre ahead of the 25th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

The seminal album, widely regarded as one of the best guitar records ever made, was released on August 29, 1994.

A number of posters have been put up around the Northern Quarter, each with lyrics from the record.

They include 'you can have it all but how much do you want it?' from Supersonic, and 'have I finally found something worth living for?' from Cigarettes and Alcohol.

The posters have appeared close to areas Burnage boys Liam and Noel knew well back when they lived in Manchester, including Afflecks Palace and what used to be Dry Bar on Oldham Street.

The hashtag #DM25 appears on all the posters.

'In 20 years’ time, people will buy Definitely Maybe and listen to it for what it was. That’s what is important' - Noel Gallagher, August 1994

Definitely Maybe went seven times platinum in the UK. More than five million copies have been sold worldwide.

The album contained tune after tune.

The four singles - Supersonic, Shakermaker, Live Forever and Cigarettes And Alcohol' - quickly became established classics.

Album tracks, such as 'Rock ‘n’ Roll Star and Slide Away, became just as popular.

The band's record label, Big Brother Recordings, is releasing content from the era throughout August.

A limited edition picture disc and silver coloured vinyl LP (to mark the silver 25th anniversary) will also be released on August 30.
