Oasis ‘in talks over greatest hits album’ amid talk of more UK shows as reunion tour ends

Oasis have wrapped their blockbuster 41-date reunion tour, but talk has already turned to what the Gallagher brothers might do next.

The band took their final bow in São Paulo on Sunday night in front of 60,000 fans, capping a comeback run that has smashed ticket records and reignited global demand for the Britpop icons. While no follow-up plans are confirmed yet, industry chatter suggests there could be more to come.

Sources say early conversations have taken place behind the scenes, including the possibility of reviving a long-mooted greatest-hits release. Noel Gallagher had previously assembled a compilation of post-2000 Oasis highlights and B-sides, but the project was shelved after Liam opposed it.

Reflecting in 2023, Noel said: “He wouldn’t have it in the end — I don’t know why.”

According to reports, that compilation is now back on the table, alongside discussions about fresh UK shows. Ideas being floated include stadium dates at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, a return to Knebworth, and potential slots at major festivals such as Coachella and Benicàssim.

An insider told The Sun the brothers plan to “take a long break to compute the magnitude of this tour”, adding: “Being back together on stage has been incredible for both of them — and having Bonehead join them for the final shows has been nothing short of phenomenal.”

They continued: “They know what the fans want, and the demand would be there if they chose to release a new greatest hits album or play more shows.”

Liam Gallagher has also hinted that the door remains open. Responding to a fan on X who pleaded for more dates, he wrote: “You will see me next year and the year after and so on — just not sure yet if it’ll be with Oasis. We need to sit down and discuss these things. If it was all up to me then you know we’d be touring till the day we die… but unfortunately it’s not.”

Speculation over 2026 plans comes as the band paused their show in Brazil on Saturday to pay tribute to Stone Roses bassist Gary “Mani” Mounfield, who died last week aged 63.

During Live Forever, a photo of Mani filled the arena screens as Liam turned to applaud, with the image remaining in place until the band launched into Rock ’n’ Roll Star.

Mani had longstanding ties with both Gallaghers, and his final public appearance was alongside Liam at Ricky Hatton’s funeral in October. He is understood to have died at home in Heaton Moor, Stockport, after collapsing from a seizure.

The Standard has contacted representatives for Oasis for comment.
