Oasis gig goers set new Wembley record by drinking 250k pints a night

Oasis fans have set a new record at Wembley Stadium by drinking a quarter of a million pints a night during their reunion tour.

Gig goers keen to see the Britpop band once again are the thirstiest to ever visit the stadium, figures released by catering company Delaware North show.

The Times reports that roughly 80,000 people have been attending each show at the UK’s biggest stadium, meaning roughly three pints are being drunk by each gig goer on average.

Over twice as many pints have been sold at Oasis’ Wembley gigs compared to when Coldplay played at the venue last year. Around 120,000 pints were sold each night when Coldplay performed.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift fans drank just 40,000 pints each night during the London leg of her latest tour, meaning roughly one in two people had a beer during the American singer’s concert.

Around 4,500 kegs have been moved in and around the stadium, with Delaware North’s catering services director told The Caterer it had fought a “turf war” to turn unused areas around Wembley into cold storage.

Pubs on stopping off points on the way to Wembley have also seen a boost in trade, The Times reported.

Tens of thousands of Oasis fans have descended on Wembley since the Gallagher brothers reunited for their first live show in the capital in 16 years last week.

Liam and Noel Gallagher have performed in front of a sea of Adidas-clad fans, with gig goers describing seeing 100-strong queues for merch stands.

“There was a lot of merch, definitely the highest percentage of people wearing band merch I’ve ever seen at a concert before,” says 27-year-old Molly Cleary, who was in attendance.

“Literally every other person had some form of merch, if not two pieces. But especially the new Adidas collab football shirt-style tees.”

Oasis will play seven nights at Wembley in total as part of their reunion tour.
