Noel Gallagher paid a tongue-in-cheek tribute to his “favourite London bar” as Oasis returned to the capital for the first time in 16 years.
Oasis returned to London following their dramatic split in 2009, delivering an electric set in front of 90,000 Adidas-clad fans at Wembley on Friday.
Ahead of playing Don’t Look Back In Anger, one of Oasis’ most famous tracks, during the show’s encore, Noel Gallagher paid tribute to Chiltern Firehouse, which was severely damaged after a fire ripped through the building in February.
"In London there are many tragedies, from the Great Fire, the Blitz,” Noel told Wembley. “And this year a tragedy happened that was bigger than all of them combined, which was my favourite bar the Firehouse f***ing burned down.
“I’d like to dedicate this next song to all the staff at the Firehouse."
An architect warned earlier this year that the central London celebrity haunt may be out of action for years after a devastating blaze earlier this month, an architect has said.
The fire at the Marylebone venue on February 14 is believed to have started in a pizza oven before spreading through the rest of the hotel and restaurant.
It was reported at the time that Netflix had planned to host a Baftas after-party at the Firehouse, before the fire broke out.
The fire had quickly spread from the ground-floor restaurant at the luxury hotel to the roof of the four-storey building.
The roof and third floor of the hotel were destroyed while around half of the second floor and a small part of the ground floor were also damaged by the fire.
Located on Chiltern Street, the firehouse occupies a historic Victorian fire station, originally built in 1889 as the Chiltern Street Fire Station
The firehouse has 26 bedrooms and has entertained the likes of Taylor Swift, Tom Cruise, Madonna and Leonardo DiCaprio since being built in 1889.
