Champagne Supernova

Friday 25 July 2025 22:19 , Andy Beill

Liam stands arms out wide, tambourine on head, as he finishes the song. He gives Noel a pat on the shoulder and gets a smile in return.

Noel is left to applaud the crowd with the rest of the band as fireworks go off outside Wembley and the crowd on the pitch watch the supernova in the sky.

And now for the closer...

Friday 25 July 2025 22:11 , Andy Beill

Liam tells the crowd: “Nice one for making this happen. It’s good to be f***ing back.”

Wonderwall: "That wretched song"

Friday 25 July 2025 22:09 , Andy Beill

Liam is back on the microphone and introduces what’s coming next in the encore: “It’s that song again… wretched song”

He’s leaving the chorus to the crowd to sing as he shakes along on the tambourine. “Louder!”

Really, louder?

Don't Look Back in Anger rings out across Wembley

Friday 25 July 2025 22:05 , Jacob Phillips

The gig has come to a climax as Oasis fans dreams come true after 16 years of bickering between the Gallagher brothers.

There are 90,000 fans singing in unison as Don’t Look Back In Anger rings out across the stadium.

There are at least two people crying directly in front of the press box.

Earlier on Friday, the Standard met a woman who had some of the lyrics to Don’t Look Back In Anger tattooed on the back of her neck.

We hope she enjoyed that.

The Masterplan

Friday 25 July 2025 21:58 , Andy Beill

Noel is back out with the band, and what looks like a cardboard cutout of Pep Guardiola at the back of the stage: “The greatest manager of all time”

The Manchester City reference brings boos from the crowd.

But it’s red light flooding the crowd, not blue, with the phone lights dotted around for a huge singalong to The Masterplan. Guitarist Gem Archer plays out the solo - his biggest moment in the spotlight so far.

Rock 'n' Roll Star

Friday 25 July 2025 21:52 , Andy Beill

After the image of Ozzy Osbourne is shown at the end of Live Forever, Liam dedicates the next song to the late Black Sabbath man: Rock ‘n’ Roll Star

Liam bows and throws his arms open to the crowd as the song ends. The band leave the stage... for now.

Whatever / Live Forever

Friday 25 July 2025 21:49 , Andy Beill

Camera lights on again for Whatever, and then the loudest the crowd have been so far to sing back: “You and I are gonna live forever”

An image of the recently deceased Ozzy Osbourne is projected towards the end of the song.

Slide Away: "This one's for all the lovebirds"

Friday 25 July 2025 21:35 , Andy Beill

Liam introduces Slide Away: "This one's for all the lovebirds"

And the Wembley fans really are loving this one - it sounds immense.

The crowd involvement just then was one of the moments of the night so far.

Stand By Me / Cast No Shadow

Friday 25 July 2025 21:27 , Andy Beill

All arms in the crowd aloft for another from Be Here Now: Stand By Me. Did Noel even give a slight smile while he was playing that one?

After it finishes, Liam asks for the lights on the crowd to go back down... Cast No Shadow.

D'You Know What I Mean?

Friday 25 July 2025 21:17 , Andy Beill

Red light bathes the crowd as the band play the Be Here Now opener. Noel’s guitar wails out the solo - and he’s still got his shades on.

Little By Little

Friday 25 July 2025 21:12 , Andy Beill

Little By Little is the latest in Oasis’ back catalogue we’re expecting the band to go tonight - and it’s well judged: the crowd are absolutely lapping it up as the evening light dims over Wembley.

End of Noel’s three-song mini set. Liam’s back out and says things are getting naughty.

Noel Gallagher jokes about the Royal Family as the lights come out for Half The World Away

Friday 25 July 2025 21:05 , Jacob Phillips

Wembley has been transformed into a sea of lights as Noel Gallagher belts out the lyrics to Half the World Away.

But before getting started, Noel makes a jibe at the royal family.

“This one is for The Royle Family,” he jokes. “Not that royal family, the real f***ing Royle Family.”

Phone lights lit up the crowd at the top of Wembley - they didn’t used to do that in the 90s - as the crowd gently swayed to the tune.

Talk Tonight: "This one's for the ladies"

Friday 25 July 2025 21:01 , Andy Beill

This has very much been the Liam show so far, centre stage and with all eyes on him. They just don’t make them like him anymore.

Now it’s Noel’s turn, saying “This one’s for the ladies” as he puts on an acoustic guitar and introduces Talk Tonight.

Oasis project pictures of Battersea Power Station and London buses at Wembley

Friday 25 July 2025 20:58 , Jacob Phillips

A range of images of London have been projected across the stage at Wembley as Oasis rock to Roll With It.

Footage of Battersea Power Station and red buses is shown alongside pictures of tigers and planet Earth.

Not a single person is sitting down in Wembley Stadium at the moment.

Fade Away / Supersonic

Friday 25 July 2025 20:53 , Andy Beill

Fade Away might be the best they’ve sounded so far tonight.

And Supersonic might be the most the crowd have sung back to the band.

Liam looks to the sky again, mouthing words as he points upwards. He’s in the moment here.

Watch: Oasis rock Wembley with Cigarettes & Alcohol

Friday 25 July 2025 20:51 , Jacob Phillips

Oasis have Wembley in a frenzy as they play Cigarettes & Alcohol.

Here’s what the stadium looks like at the moment.

Liam Gallagher takes aim at Arsenal fans ahead of Cigarettes & Alcohol

Friday 25 July 2025 20:45 , Jacob Phillips

Liam Gallagher appears to be enjoying being back in London. Arsenal fans became his latest target after he lobbed a tambourine into the crowd.

“What are you f***ing booing Arsenal fans,” he appears to say. “Just because you’re not top of the league. It isn’t our f***ing problem.”

Minutes later, the Manchester City man joked that he had Arsenal fans doing the Poznan.

Bring It On Down

Friday 25 July 2025 20:39 , Andy Beill

Liam tosses his tambourine into the crowd, and appears to point to who he wants it to go to.

Bring It On Down is raw and angry. And now Liam wants fans to turn around...

Some Might Say rocks Wembley next

Friday 25 July 2025 20:32 , Andy Beill

"Every time I open my mouth I seem to get myself in f***ing trouble,” jokes Liam Gallagher as he says hello to the crowd properly for the first time at Wembley.

“I'm just gonna do the singing, or the screaming and the shouting as they put it these days," he quips.

We’re quickly into Some Might Say and Wembley loves it. Every seat close to the press box is full of dancing fans, belting out the lyrics.

Even the security guards are smiling and one is quietly the moment on his phone.

It’s beach balls in the air, not beer cups this time round.

Oasis to take the stage in around 10 minutes time

Friday 25 July 2025 20:07 , Jacob Phillips

This is it. The moment London has been waiting just over 16 years for.

Oasis are minutes away from returning to the capital.

Nearly 16 years to the day, the Gallagher brothers and their band will be back at Wembley, to the delight of the 90,000 sell-out crowd.

The gig is the first of seven that Oasis will play across the summer in the capital.

Bitter Sweet Symphony

Friday 25 July 2025 19:47 , Andy Beill

Richard Ashcroft’s set has ramped up and up, and the many thousands in Wembley know what’s left to play.

“Lucky I have a few songs in my arsenal,” he tells the crowd.

Fans point their arms in the air in time to the stomping drum, and Ashcroft lets them sing the opening line to Bitter Sweet Symphony. Loudly.

Some are on shoulders and being carried in the air, perhaps for the first time tonight.

His set almost feels over too soon. It’s been packed almost exclusively with Verve hits. Few could capture this crowd the way Richard Ashcroft’s just done - the perfect warm-up.

Is it really only half an hour until Oasis now?!

Friday 25 July 2025 19:16 , Jacob Phillips

Thousands of special editions of the London Standard have been handed out to Oasis fans to mark the Britpop band’s long-awaited return to the capital.

Fans dressed head to toe in Oasis merchandise quickly snatched up editions of the paper as they were given out near Wembley Stadium, nearly 16 years to the day after the Gallagher brothers and their band last performed there.

To celebrate the Gallagher brothers’ reunion, the Standard has unveiled a special collector’s edition poster on its front page, teaming up with Burger King to deliver a unique wrap-around.

Over 160,000 editions of the paper were handed out across London as the paper was released on Thursday. On Friday, an extra 15,000 editions were handed out around Wembley as well as along the Jubilee line for Oasis fanatics to pick up on their way to the sell-out show.

Friday 25 July 2025 19:02 , Jacob Phillips

Richard Ashcroft has now begun to perform at Wembley. The Verve frontman swaggered onto the stage in a manner that his good friends Liam and Noel would be proud of.

Ashcroft gets underway and entertains fans with the Verve hit Weeping Willow.

There are now only a few patches of space on the pitch at Wembley which have not been filled up by fans.

More and more seats around the stadium are beginning to fill up too.

The bright red seats in the crowd are quickly being replaced by light blue Oasis football shirts.

Fans prepare for 'emotional experience' of hearing Live Forever

Friday 25 July 2025 18:40 , Jacob Phillips

Fans continue to arrive at Wembley Stadium and the whole pitch has become a sea of fans.

Friends Veronica Reale, 30 and Martina Barolo, 30 arrived in London from Italy on Wednesday.

Miss Barolo said: “We’ve come from Milan. We’ve seen Noel, Liam, and Richard Ashcroft as solo artists, but never at the same time.”

The group have customised their face, arms, and legs with homemade temporary tattoos adorned with the band’s logo, courtesy of Martina’s printing wizardry.

“We’re huge fans,” she added.

They are accompanied by Martina’s niece, Rebecca Barolo, 18, who anticipates Live Forever will be an emotional experience.

Following the show the trio plan to seek out somewhere for drinks in order to commemorate the evening.

Cast played a new song, bringing on singer PP Arnold to join them on vocals for Poison Vine. Did that opening guitar line sound a little familiar to anyone else at first? Rock ‘n’ Roll Star coming up later for real, we expect...

And they close their set with the crowd clapping along to Alright, before taking a bow. “Love and peace to you all”

Bucket hats, Adidas and Spoons-hunting: Wembley Way buzzing ahead of Oasis gig

Friday 25 July 2025 15:50 , Megan Howe

From reporter Shannon McDonagh at the scene: Wembley Way is the busiest it's been all day.

A sea of bucket hats, Adidas, with some Manchester City kits (old and new) for good measure. It seems as though there are Oasis fans representing every country on the planet.

A group of five slightly tipsy men in their 30s are wandering through the crowds hunting down Wetherspoons they can “take over”.

Trips to both Co-op and Sainsbury’s reveals that no alcohol will be sold on the premises today, as is the same with football matches, so your only option is to find a crisp and legal pint.

Various merch stands dotted around the premises are filling up with fans keen to get their hands on a bewilderingly vast assortment of gear: everything from badges and lanyards to the coveted navy blue £90 Adidas track yet.

Elsewhere, on the steps of the neighbouring Wembley Arena, there’s a man teaching his dog how to skate.

Oasis at Wembley: where to eat and drink ahead of the legendary gigs

Friday 25 July 2025 15:26 , Megan Howe

All eyes and ears will be on Wembley Stadium this summer as Oasis return to London for the first time in more than 15 years. The lads are playing the city’s biggest venue on sell-out dates over July, August and September and such was the frenzy that just about everyone is hoping they announce more.

Those who managed to snag a ticket or two will be scouting for food and drink. Though the immediate vicinity around the stadium serves a purpose, it’s a little boring and corporate, so our advice is to pitch up earlier and visit one of the area’s great curry houses or bed in at a local pub.

Met Police 'well prepared' for the event tonight

Friday 25 July 2025 15:03 , Megan Howe

Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Ben Russell, who leads on concerts said: “A series of concerts will begin at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening and we are looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the capital.

"We have been working very closely with event organisers and Brent Council in the lead up to ensure that all visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience.

“We are well prepared for this event and the public should expect to see Officers working together with Wembley stewards and security staff in and around the venue and at transport hubs.

“With 51 large-scale stadium concerts taking place across London this summer, the Met is regularly involved in the policing of these types of events. As always, we have a flexible plan in place to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves safely.

"Wembley Stadium has provided detailed advice on its website to ensure ticketholders travelling to the venue have a great experience.

“We continue to ask the public to remain vigilant and if something doesn’t feel right, to report it to a police officer or in an emergency call 999.”

Families and friends trickle in to BOXPARK Wembley

Friday 25 July 2025 14:53 , Megan Howe

From reporter Shannon McDonagh on the scene:

Boxpark isn’t nearly as occupied as it’ll inevitably become –– the place to be right now is the outdoor terrace, which is heaving with vapers and smokers.

It’s likely that (as advertised) later proceedings will be open to ticket holders only.

From 8pm onwards it’s 18+. But for now, large groups of family and friends are trickling, trying to find a bench to park themselves until doors.

There’s dribs and drabs from the Oasis back-catalogue so far –– it seems they don’t want their audience to peak ahead of the tribute act SUPERNOVA, due on at 4pm –– the DJ is playing a mix of Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, and other Radio X-adjacent indie bangers.

Club Foot got a decent response, but the excitement is sure to soar when people hear more of the band they came here for.

Lucky Oasis fan secures tickets to the first three Oasis gigs in the 2025 tour

Friday 25 July 2025 13:55 , Megan Howe

Andrea Di Donfrancesco might be one of the luckiest Oasis fans at Wembley on Friday.Tonight will be the third time the 27-year-old nurse has seen the band since they reunited after a 16 year hiatus.

He told the Standard: “I was in Cardiff for the first date. In Manchester for the second and this is the third one.

“The Cardiff one was the first one so we had to go. Manchester one is their home and London has Wembley which is biblical.

“At the Manchester one we were on the barrier. We were in front of Noel. We had fun.”

The super fan managed to secure 20 tickets for his friends and family over the tour.

The Italian, who lives in Bologna, said each ticket cost £150 but the cost really started to creep up when he bought merchandise and transport.

He added: “I am young. I was 10 when Oasis split up. I didn’t go to any concerts before the reunion tour.”

Oasis superfan returns to Wembley 16 years on — this time with his son

Friday 25 July 2025 13:22 , Sami Quadri

Robert Eales, 41, came to watch Oasis with his teenage Harrison and his girfriend.

The group arrived at 11am and were surprised to find their tickets had been upgraded meaning they’re likely to be on the barrier for when Oasis perform.

Mr Earles said: “I went to a lot of the Oasis gigs back in the day and I’ve waited a lot longer than this and been a lot further back.

“Today seems like it’s going to be good I’m buzzing to get down the front and see them for the first time in 16 years.“The last time I saw Oasis was in 2009 at Wembley stadium. This is my 14th time seeing them.

“I’m here today with my son and his girlfriend. When we were last here I came with my wife and she was pregnant.

“So my son wasn’t born so it’s really nice to be here with him today. It’s even better that he’s into the band and he’s buzzing for it as well.

“He’s been going on about it for ages. He was all over it when the reunion was announced. We’ve been buzzing since so we’re just so glad that it’s finally here.“I have to give full credit to my wife she’s very clever when it comes to tactics to getting tickets. She got presale tickets on the Friday. They went on sale at 6pm and by 6.03pm we had our tickets.”

Friday 25 July 2025 12:48 , Megan Howe

Sam Bowring, 37, and his son Riley Bowring, 14, have arrived at Wembley early to soak up the atmosphere. They won’t be joining other early arrivals in the queue just yet – they’ve got seated tickets beside the pitch.

Hailing from Manchester, the pair made their way down to Wembley after failing to secure tickets for Oasis’ five-night run at Heaton Park earlier this month.

“I did see them Heaton Park the last time they were together,” said Sam. “It was about 2008, before it all crashed.”

He continued: “It’s like a dream come true. It’ll probably be our last as well. They’ll be off into the sunset after this tour!”

To make it easier for Oasis fans today, rail passengers travelling to and from one of London’s busiest airports have been given a helping hand.

Those travelling from Heathrow are being advised to take advantage of a cut price deal to get them to north west London.

The Heathrow Express - a direct 15-minute service from London Paddington to Heathrow Central - is cutting fares to mark the return of the band, and says it is expecting a high number of travellers to use the service.

Friday 25 July 2025 12:32 , Megan Howe

Jake Julian, 25, travelled with his friends and family from Worcester to see Oasis return to Wembley stadium.

“I’m absolutely buzzing. I’ve seen Liam a handful of times. I’m lucky enough to have met Noel very quickly and have got his autograph.

“It’s absolutely amazing - generational. Dads and lads as they say. They’re working class heroes.”

The 25-year-old explained he can not wait to see the Gallagher brothers come out holding hands and to see them perform Acquiesce.

“Just being here amongst it. Everyone is in a good mood. Couple of drinks and that. I think you’re not true to yourself if you don’t have a tear in your eye at some point.

“We’ll be holding each other and holding each other. Keeping it real.”

Everywhere Liam and Noel Gallagher have lived in and around London

Friday 25 July 2025 11:16 , Megan Howe

Manchester is their spiritual home. But, for much of their adult lives Liam and Noel Gallagher have found themselves powerless to resist the siren call of leafy north London.

That means that when the Oasis brothers come off stage on Friday, after the first London show of their triumphant reunion tour, they will only have to make a short trip around the North Circular to get back to their respective homes.

Oasis fans travel from Aberdeen for the Oasis gig

Friday 25 July 2025 11:13 , Megan Howe

Daniel Harrison, 32, and Heather Munro, 37, have travelled down to London from Aberdeen with three of their friends to watch Oasis.

Mr Harrison said: “We thought it was a good chance to get tickets since it’s such a big venue. Edinburgh hasn’t got as many hotels around it.

While Ms Munro was able to get her tickets at face value, the dynamic pricing model for the gigs meant Mr Harrison had to pay £500 for his ticket.

He continued: “I had the fear of missing out and my friends going without me.”

Ms Munro added: “We have a friend who was at Rock en Seine [the festival where Oasis broke up in 2009]. He was at the gig waiting for them to come out.”

The pair said they were excited to see what the crowds were like and are planning to spend the day in an Oasis fan zone at Box Park Wembley before heading into the stadium.

Thousands of fans upgraded to the front of the stadium

Friday 25 July 2025 11:00 , Megan Howe

Security have informed reporter Shannon McDonagh that the first 2,000 fans to arrive today with rear pitch standing tickets are being upgraded to the front of the stadium.

Right now there’s less than 200 people at Wembley, so there’s plenty of chances for other arrivals to follow suit.

Heather Lhote was the first fan to arrive today at 5am.

This is her first time seeing the band.

She flew in to London from Paris last night, and said she is “tired but excited”.

Oasis superfans travel from Singapore to watch Oasis' first gig in London

Friday 25 July 2025 10:50 , Megan Howe

Two Oasis superfans have travelled thousands of miles from Singapore to watch Oasis’ first gig back in London.

Nabil Noor, 28, and Diana Ismail, 27, have already seen Liam Gallagher perform three times but can’t wait to see him unite with his brother Noel once again this evening.

Mr Noor said: “We didn’t get any gigs in Singapore on the world tour so we had to come here.

“It’s their first gig back in London. The last one was in 2009. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere. Even though it’s not a home town gig. London is usually a big event.”

The couple have previously seen Liam Gallagher perform in Singapore and at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

The pair spent around one thousand Singapore Dollars, roughly £500, for their two tickets and have spent around £1,000 each in total to fly to London and stay for a week in the capital.

Friday 25 July 2025 10:32 , Megan Howe

Oasis’s reunion tour is arriving at London’s Wembley Stadium, with thousands of fans donning bucket hats, adidas football shirts and sportswear jackets to see their heroes.

On stage, the freshly-reconciled brothers have also opted for laidback looks - with Liam Gallagher opting for a trademark parka, and Noel keeping it casual in a polo or denim shirt.

Over 100 people have already started queuing for tonight's event

Friday 25 July 2025 10:28 , Megan Howe

The queue for people with standing tickets is currently 100-150 people strong, reporter Shannon McDonagh says.

It looks as though this will double (at least) over the course of the next hour.

She said it doesn’t look like anybody has camped out, the first person to arrive got to the front at around 5am.

Kai, Dave, Mariko, and Suni are at the front of the queue. Up until a couple of hours ago they were strangers who each made their way from various parts of London and Essex to see the band. So far they’ve met someone here from all the way from Texas. They tell me how they’ve already bonded over their excitement.

This is their first Oasis experience, bar Kai, the youngest of the group, previously attended one of their Cardiff shows and is back for more.

“This guy knows more than I do about music,” says Dave of his younger counterpart, who has committed to similar early starts for Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, and Stevie Wonder in the past year.

Friday 25 July 2025 10:21 , Megan Howe

As anticipation builds for Oasis’s 2025 reunion shows at Wembley Stadium, fans may be hoping the band’s return to the iconic venue doesn’t echo one of their most notorious performances — a chaotic 2000 gig both Noel and Liam Gallagher have publicly regretted.

Our reporter Shannon McDonagh who is on the scene says: “Wembley’s main outdoor merch stand looks to be the most organised operation observed at a stadium show - borderline airport security.

“Extensive lines barriers look prepared to contain hundreds of people.

“Merch prices range from £20 for a tote bag or tour poster to £90 for a pale blue Adidas track jacket. Last month the sportswear brand released a three-minute advert announcing the collaboration.”

It’s a balmy morning in north-west London.

For commuters it’s business as usual - they trail up and Wembley Park’s diagonal steps, where the bulk of 90,000 Oasis fans will arrive for today’s show.

Many music fans will know and cherish the walk down Olympic Way but on the surface, it’s quiet – for now. One of the barista’s from the local Black Sheep Coffee sighs and agrees it’s going to be the busiest day of the year.

Friday 25 July 2025 07:58 , Megan Howe

Such is the promise of excitement that it’s likely countless will be scouting for drinks after the show. Many will head to town, or to their local, or to M&S tinnies on the train.

But the fact is a restorative, calming pint post stadium, pre-public transport is usually a good idea.

Wembley and its surrounds isn’t a top postcode for boozers. A great curry? Hey, the options are vast. Pubs less so

The Standard has compiled a list of some of the best boozers to enjoy a post-gig pint.
