OAP killed after being hit by £250k purple Rolls-Royce at Hyde Park Corner

A pensioner was killed when he was hit by a rare super car as he crossed a central London road.

The 66-year-old, who has not been named, was walking over Hyde Park Corner when he was struck by the purple Rolls-Royce.

Police spoke to the driver of the super car at the scene after the accident at 3.15am this morning, but he was not arrested.

Scotland Yard said they are trying to trace the victim’s next of kin to inform them of his tragic death.

A large section of the iconic roundabout was sealed off during morning rush hour as investigations took place.

The Wraith, which has a top speed of 155mph, was left with a large crack on the windscreen after the crash.

It has previously been photographed by car enthusiasts parked up in exclusive Belgravia and Knightsbridge.

Well-heeled locals complain each year about luxury cars speeding through their streets during ‘supercar season’.

Their oil-rich owners transport them to the UK each summer while escaping the stifling Middle-Eastern heat.

Det Con Chris May appealed for anyone with dash-cam footage of the accident to come forward.

He said: “Your information could be vital in helping us understand the cause of this tragic incident.”
