A man was arrested after allegedly hitting two people with a vehicle Thursday in southwest suburban Oak Lawn.

Authorities were called at 10:20 p.m. for reports of a man and woman hit by a vehicle in the 4700 block of West 99th Street, according to Ross Finnelly, division chief of investigations for the Oak Lawn Police Department.

Investigators learned the driver hit them on purpose before driving away, Finnelly said. The man appeared to be the intended target.

The woman was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with injuries that were not life threatening, police said. The man was treated and released from a hospital.

The Evergreen Park Police Department pulled the vehicle over near 99th Street and Francisco Avenue, according to Finnelly. The driver is in custody at the Oak Lawn Police Department and charges against him are pending.

Finnelly said the driver and the victims know each other and the hit-and-run is being investigated as a domestic incident.
