A family member fatally struck a 6-year-old boy with a vehicle Monday afternoon in southwest suburban Oak Lawn.

The crash occurred about noon in the 9300 block of South Kolmar Avenue, Oak Lawn police said in an initial statement.

An adult family member was driving the vehicle that struck the 6-year-old, police announced Tuesday. That person has not been charged with any offenses.

When officers arrived at the scene Monday, they found the 6-year-old boy injured and laying unresponsive in the the street, police said.
