O2 Arena ripped open by Storm Eunice

Congratulations if you’ve got any work done today and haven’t simply been watching hours of Big Jet TV, the YouTube channel in which Jerry Dyer films and commentates (like it’s a football match) on planes attempting to land at Heathrow.

Indeed, Storm Eunice has achieved what Peter Mandelson never could: sunk the Millennium Dome. Check out the video partway through this article, in which you’ll see large chunks of the *inside* of the O2 Arena from the outside, with the multiple sections ripped away.

Fear not, however: there’s enough Storm Eunice content for everyone. If you’re trying to get anywhere today, here’s our latest guide to what is and isn’t running.

Confused about where we got the name ‘Eunice’ from? Wonder no more. And for the electricity generation stats fans around there, you may be interested to learn that at 1pm today, wind accounted for 12.5GW or one-third of the UK’s supply. So the destruction has not gone entirely to waste.

Elsewhere in the paper, London Fashion Week officially kicked off today, showcasing the creativity of the capital to the world.

In the comment pages, the Standard’s Defence Editor Robert Fox writes that Russia and Ukraine should make us rethink our approach to defence and energy.

Meanwhile, Melanie McDonagh asks, Linda Evangelista: supermodel or morality tale?

And finally, what to do in London this weekend, versus what to watch instead because have you looked outside?

Have a lovely weekend.
