Savvymum, in comments, suggested a meetup at the Churchill pub near the top of Kensington Church Street. I can't see any point in suggesting other places, none will be conspicuously better, nor as easy to reach and find, since Notting Hill Gate is on the intersection of three tube lines and a lot of bus routes.
Also, there is a very good Waterstone's at the top of the hill, an excellent, if expensive, cafe for the non-alcoholics, and lots of good cheap chinese restaurants in walking distance, or at least the distance that a good argument can be made to last while walking.
She suggests Saturday August 8th. That's fine by me.
