NZ Police mistakenly charged attacks suspect with murder of person still alive

New Zealand Police inadvertently charged the mosque terrorist attacks suspect with the murder of a person who is still alive, Kiwi news outlet Stuff first reported Thursday.

Details: Police confirmed to Axios an error was made in the charging document prepared for the first court appearance of Brenton Harrison Tarrant, 28, the man charged with murder in relation to the Christchurch terrorist attacks, caused an incorrect victim name included in the charging document.

What they're saying: "We have spoken with the person incorrectly named on the charging document and apologised," the police said to Axios in a statement. "The charge sheet will be amended. New Zealand Police regret this error and apologies for any harm caused by the mistake."
